Getting Your Real Estate License in Louisiana

The Louisiana Real Estate Commission requires the applicants for a real estate license in Louisiana to submit certain guidelines.

1. Eligibility for Getting Your Real Estate Salesperson License in Louisiana

Age: Must be 18 years of age or older to be licensed.

Academic Requirements: Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Background check: Must order a criminal background check to be completed by Acxiom Information Security Services.

Pre-licensing requirements: Having successfully completed 90-hour real estate education in courses approved by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission for getting a real estate salesperson license in Louisiana. Having successfully completed 150-hour real estate education in courses approved by the Louisiana Real Estate Commission for getting a real estate broker license in Louisiana. In addition, the broken applicant must have the experience of being actively licensed as a real estate salesperson for at least 2 years.

The examination fee is $90

3. Taking the Real Estate Exam in Louisiana

After ordering the background check applicants may submit their application (part A), proof of real estate education completion and Errors and Omissions Insurance to www.lrec.state.la.us. Upon approval, the LREC will give applicants permission to take the licensing examination.

4. Obtaining the Real Estate License in Louisiana

Applicants should submit Part B of their license application after successfully passing the licensing examination. Once LREC approves this application, they will send the applicants their real estate license.
