Getting Your Real Estate License in Missouri

Are you thinking about getting a real estate license in Missouri? Here are the few things that the State of Missouri will require before they issue a real estate license.

1. Eligibility for Getting Your Real Estate Salesperson License in Missouri

Age: Must be 18 years of age or older to be licensed.

Academic Requirements: Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Pre-licensing educational requirements: Fulfilling any ONE of the following:

  • Having successfully completed a 48-hour salesperson pre-examination course from an approved real estate school.
  • Having successfully completed the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course.
  • Be a licensed attorney.
  • Be granted a one-time sitting for the Missouri real estate examination by the MREC.

2. Eligibility for Getting Your Real Estate Broker License in Missouri

Age: Must be 18 years of age or older to be licensed.

Academic Requirements: Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Pre-licensing educational requirements: Having passed the salesperson examination in Missouri and fulfilling any ONE of the following:

  • Having successfully completed a 48-hour broker education course from an approved real estate school.
  • Be actively engaged licensed salesperson for 24 of the last 30 months
  • Be a licensed attorney.
  • Be granted a one-time sitting for the Missouri real estate examination by the MREC.

3. Cost of Getting Your Real Estate License in Missouri

The examination fee for taking the real estate exam in Missouri is $52 for either a broker or a salesperson. The license application fee is $50.00. The original license fee for a broker is $80.00 and for a salesperson is $40.00.

4. Taking the Real Estate Exam in Missouri

Applicants will have to obtain at least 75 percent on each of the two-portion exam.

5. Obtaining Real Estate License in Colorado

Once an applicant has successfully passed both portions of the exam, he or she will be given an application for a license at the testing center. This application must be submitted within six months of completing the 48-hour pre-licensing course.
